The purpose of the course is to provide guidance on establishing a programme for authorization and inspection of the physical protection measures for nuclear material and nuclear facilities in order to verify compliance with the applicable requirements and conditions of the licence(s) for nuclear facilities. The course materials are primarily designed to assist States and competent authorities in implementing an authorization and inspection programme; however, operators and other competent authorities that have a role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements may also benefit from the training.

16-19 Oct 2017, International Training Course on Regulations and Associated Administrative Measures for Nuclear Security, Cairo, Egypt

 

The purpose of the course is to introduce participants to key issues affecting the development of technical regulations for nuclear security. The course is intended to assist States to develop suitable regulations, established under relevant primary legislation of the State, so that assigned roles and responsibilities are carried out and powers are exercised according to law, cooperatively and in a coordinated manner within a State.

The course is aimed at States having no nuclear security regulations in place, as well as at States currently developing security regulations or reviewing existing nuclear security regulations. The course covers the regulations that may be established for nuclear and other radioactive material, as well as associated facilities and activities. The course also provides a general overview of the legislative and regulatory framework for nuclear and other radioactive material out of regulatory control.
