The objective of the course is to establish awareness of the need for having a domestic NMAC system in place at nuclear facilities that is effective in detecting unauthorized removal of nuclear material, especially against the Non-State Actor. The course will familiarize participants with relevant binding and non-binding instruments and will provide information to assist participants in reviewing ways in which the NMAC system at  a facility can contribute to meeting the facility’s nuclear security needs and objectives.  The course will also compare and contrast the elements of a domestic NMAC program with IAEA Safeguards.

15 - 19 April 2024 - National Training Course on Control of Nuclear Material in Use, Storage and Movement - Rawalpindi, Pakistan

To provide participants with introductory knowledge and skills related to the control aspects of NMAC identified in Nuclear Security Series 32-T (Technical Guidance), which are used to mitigate the threat posed by malicious insiders. It describes the elements of a nuclear security programme that can be implemented at a nuclear facility in coordination with the physical protection system for the purpose of deterring and detecting the unauthorized removal of nuclear material. This course will cover the implementation of measures to control nuclear material, associated equipment and data.

27-29 February 2024 - Regional Training Course on Nuclear Material Accounting and Control for Nuclear Security Purposes at Facilities - Tokai, Japan

 

The objective of the course is to familiarize participants with Nuclear Security Series No. 25-G, Use of Nuclear Accounting and Control for Nuclear Security Purposes at Facilities. This course is an introduction to an NMAC system at the facility level that is effective in detecting unauthorized removal of nuclear material, particularly against the non-State actor. The course will familiarize participants with relevant binding and non-binding instruments and will provide information to assist participants in reviewing ways in which the NMAC system at  a facility can contribute to meeting the facility’s nuclear security needs and objectives.

04-08 December 2023 - Technical Meeting on Good Practices and Challenges in Establishing, Implementing and Maintaining a Nuclear Material Accounting and Control Programme for Nuclear Security Purposes at Nuclear Facilities - NSTDC, Austria

 

The objective for this event is for Member States to gain an understanding of how their existing national infrastructure can be enhanced to support their nuclear security programme, specifically focusing on NMAC practices for nuclear security. This will be achieved through Member States sharing good practices and challenges in establishing, implementing and maintaining a nuclear material accounting and control programme.
