Pre-training 2023 Poland- IAEA Nuclear Energy Management School

This pre-training is designed to help applicants become familiarised with basic concepts and some fundamentals associated with nuclear energy related topics. The students for Nuclear Energy Management (NEM) Schools are selected from a wide spectrum of the nuclear energy industry. They could be from organisations operating nuclear power plants or from organisations that have a connection to the nuclear energy industry such as nuclear fuel, waste management research and development organisations supporting nuclear energy, technical support organisations, regulatory organisations, national policy making organisations, academia involved in supporting the development of nuclear energy etc. The personnel coming from this spectrum of organisations, depending upon their area of specialisation may possess deeper knowledge on a particular field of nuclear energy. However, they may not have a reasonable understanding of other areas of nuclear energy and therefore, it becomes important to provide them with a holistic view of current industry issues that are important for nuclear energy.  The two week intensive NEM School covers a wide range of topics and focuses deeply on some of the important areas while providing a broad perspective on most of the other areas. This pre-training is developed for the participants of Nuclear Energy Management School . This pre-training helps in

  • Providing the basic concepts related to nuclear energy needed for effective learning during the two weeks of face-to-face training
  • Helping students coming from different nuclear energy backgrounds to become familiarised with important concepts related to nuclear energy.
  • Providing a basic training that could be easily disseminated effectively through an on-line e-learning platform so that the two weeks face-to-face training can be better utilised for higher level and more specific information that can be effectively delivered by an expert through face-to-face interaction.

The pre-training is provided through 5 modules. It is highly recommended to start the training from module 1 and go through in order until module 5.  At the end of each module, there are self-assessment questions to help students make their own evaluation of their learning. After completion of this pre-training,  a pre-training final test has been included  to assess the students understanding of various topics covered.

A list of reference materials are also included at the end of pre-training to facilitate applicants further learning on related topics.
