Master's Degree Program in Emergency Preparedness and Response

In July 2018 IAEA hosted the “CBC-EPR Workshop: Exchanging experience, looking for synergies” with the main purpose to share experiences and look for synergies in the delivery of capacity building activities in emergency preparedness and response (EPR).  The participants of the Workshop agreed on the need for development of the post-graduate degree curriculum, professional development and certification pathways. It was discussed that a post-graduate level education programme would strengthen the credibility of Member States’ abilities to effectively prepare and respond to a nuclear or radiological emergency.

The need for the educational programme in EPR at the post-graduate degree level was also emphasised by the participants of the variety of trainings organised by the  IAEA-IEC in the past.

The programme will bridge the gap between existing training in EPR and the suitable education and qualifications in this field.  An effective education in EPR will not just contribute in the formation of the EPR managers and other specialists but also has the potential to enhance Member States’ abilities to respond to combined emergencies.

The specialists produced through this programme will be proficient in the technologies, tools and techniques relevant to EPR in a highly mobile, technologically enhanced modern society.
