development and sustainable functioning of nuclear security infrastructure for the realization
of national nuclear power programmes.

The purpose of this introductory course is to familiarize participants with nuclear security measures that address insider threats, including unauthorized removal of nuclear materials (theft), sabotage and cybersecurity at facilities containing nuclear material. On the basis of lectures and small-group working sessions with exercises, the course will introduce the concepts that underlie the evaluation of preventive and protective measures and explain how these should be applied to enhance nuclear security with regard to insider threats. During the small group sessions, the participants will apply concepts covered in the lectures as they work through practical exercises based on a hypothetical facility.
